On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), we visited the historical site of the founding of the Annam Communist Party in Co Do district, Can Tho city.
The An Nam Communist Party Branch of the Co Do Party was established on November 10, 1929 in Co Do district, the first Party branch of the Can Tho Party Committee, with comrade Ha Huy Giap as Secretary. This is also one of the three predecessor organizations of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Sharing with Lao Dong, Mr. Thach Sang (57 years old, a Khmer ethnic person in Co Do district) said that the birth of the An Nam Communist Party Cell had a profound impact on all classes of people, especially the working class, farmers, and laborers, motivating them to participate in the revolutionary cause and protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland.
“From the perspective of a citizen, I have promoted and mobilized young people to understand the Party’s guidelines and policies, and that when they grow up, they must do military service to protect the country. At the same time, I always educate my children that in peacetime, they must also try to maintain peace and not let foreign forces carry out plots to sabotage the government,” said Mr. Sang.
On major holidays, Mr. Sang always brought his wife and children to attend and listen to the sharing about the significance of the An Nam Communist Party, and the history of comrades who mobilized the working class and established revolutionary cells to fight against the French colonial regime.
“I hope my children and grandchildren will always remember that before the country was liberated, our comrades had to sacrifice a lot of blood and bones so that we can have a prosperous, peaceful and happy life like today,” Mr. Sang expressed.
When hearing about the historical moment, many young people understood, expressed their emotions and remembered the merits of their uncles and aunts who sacrificed their blood for the Fatherland, thereby also creating awareness for them about the revolutionary spirit, to join the army every year, to protect the country if war broke out.
Mr. Huynh Muoi Mot - Secretary of Co Do District Party Committee, Can Tho City - informed that today, in the country's renovation process and following the tradition of the An Nam Communist Party Cell of Co Do District, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Co Do District continue to promote the heroic revolutionary tradition of their homeland.
Up to now, the entire Party Committee has 46 branches and affiliated Party Committees with 3,426 Party members. The rate of clean and strong branches and Party Committees (fulfilling their tasks well) annually reaches over 95%, and qualified Party members who have fulfilled their tasks well reach 96.37% or more. The District Party Committee has achieved 5 consecutive years of excellent task completion (2019 - 2023).
Recently, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of An Nam Co Do (November 10, 1929 - November 10, 2024), the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee also held a ceremony to admit 9 new party members and presented 16 solidarity houses to households with difficult housing conditions to implement the emulation movement "joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Co Do district in 2024". Up to now, Co Do district has completed 100% of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the district.
