In the draft Decree stipulating the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed a minimum wage increase of 7.8% compared to the current level, applied from January 1, 2027.
This proposed level coincides with the option that the National Wage Council unanimously recommended the Government to approve at the recent negotiation session.
The minimum monthly salary level according to 4 regions includes: Region I is 5.7 million VND/month, region II is 5.08 million VND/month, region III is 4.45 million VND/month, region IV is 4.04 million VND/month.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this adjustment level has sharing and harmonizing the interests of employees and businesses, both paying attention to improving the lives of employees and paying attention to ensuring the maintenance and development of production and business of enterprises.
The above-mentioned minimum wage increases by 310,000-330,000 VND, corresponding to an average rate of 7.8% compared to the current minimum wage. The above-mentioned minimum wage adjustment is about 3.7% higher than the minimum living standard of workers by the end of 2027 to improve workers.
Contributing opinions to the draft Decree, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment proposed to clearly stipulate the time to switch to applying the new salary level when dividing, merging, and establishing new administrative units.
Responding to this request, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that in case of division or name change, the minimum wage prescribed for the area before the name change or division will be temporarily applied until the Government has new regulations;
In case the area is established in a new administrative area established from one or more areas with different minimum wages, the minimum wage level according to the area with the highest minimum wage level shall be applied until the Government has new regulations.
