Proposal for 2 options for merging wards in Dong Ha city

Quang Tri - Dong Ha City Party Committee has proposed 2 options to merge wards of Dong Ha city.

On March 27, a source from Lao Dong Newspaper confirmed that Dong Ha City Party Committee (Quang Tri Province) had proposed to the Standing Committee of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee 2 plans to merge wards.

Accordingly, with option 1, all 9 wards of Dong Ha city will be merged into 1 ward and named Dong Ha ward.

Option 2 will merge 9 wards into 2 wards. Specifically, Dong Luong, Dong Le wards, Ward 5 and Khe Lap quarter of Ward 3 will be merged to form a new ward with the name Nam Dong Ha ward.

The remaining wards include wards 1, 2, 4, Dong Thanh ward, Dong Giang ward and ward 3 (except Khe Lap quarter) merged, along with expanding administrative boundaries, adding Thanh An commune (Cam Lo district) to establish a new ward with the name Dong Ha ward.

Mr. Le Quang Chien - Secretary of Dong Ha City Party Committee said that, through reviewing the criteria and grasping the thoughts and aspirations of cadres and people, Dong Ha City Party Committee has compiled and proposed to superiors.

"Dong Ha City Party Committee proposes 2 options, if implemented according to option 1, it is good, and if option 2 is required, more communes of Cam Lo district must be merged to have space for development after the merger" - Mr. Le Quang Chien informed.

It is known that Dong Ha city currently has an area of 73 km2, with a population of nearly 109,000 people. Thanh An commune (Cam Lo district) together with Dong Thanh ward, Dong Giang (Dong Ha city) formerly known as Tong An Lac, has a history, culture, and tradition of solidarity and similarity.
