At the invitation of the Singapore Ministry of National Defense, on February 3, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense and the delegation attended the Opening Ceremony of the Singapore Airshow 2026 and conducted bilateral meetings and contacts.
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense's participation in the exhibition shows interest in international cooperation in the defense industry, affirming that the Government and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always create conditions to strengthen exchanges and international cooperation in the field of the defense industry according to the principle of equality, mutual benefit, respect for Vietnam's laws and other international commitments.
On the occasion of attending the exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien met bilaterally with Mr. Chan Heng Kee - Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Defense of Singapore.
At the bilateral meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated the Singapore Ministry of National Defense for coordinating with the Organizing Committee to successfully organize Singapore Airshow 2026. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his pleasure with the extremely good and comprehensive results between the two countries in general and the two Armies in particular.
On January 30, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam had a phone call with the Secretary General of the People's Action Party, Prime Minister of Singapore, agreeing on many important orientations to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Cooperation between the Ministries of National Defense of the two countries has become substantive and effective in the fields of: Delegation exchanges at all levels; Mechanisms of Defense Policy Dialogue, consultations, information exchange; military and maritime security and safety cooperation; training; coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien wished Mr. Chan Heng Kee - Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Defense of Singapore to continue to pay attention to and direct the promotion of the development of Vietnam - Singapore defense relations to continue to have substantial and effective development steps, focusing on the fields of delegation exchange at all levels, especially high-level delegations, maintaining dialogue and consultation mechanisms;
Military and military service cooperation; training cooperation and in other areas of cooperation such as: Maritime security and safety; rescue and relief; military medicine, logistics, intelligence information exchange; non-traditional security; consultation and mutual support at multilateral forums, multilateral activities organized by each party.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien respectfully invited Mr. Chan Heng Kee to attend the opening ceremony of the representative office of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) in Singapore on the morning of February 4; Respectfully invited leaders of the Singapore Ministry of National Defense and Mr. Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of National Defense to attend the 3rd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition at the end of 2026.
Mr. Chan Heng Kee also affirmed that Vietnam - Singapore have very good bilateral cooperation relations and are increasingly consolidated and developed, in which defense cooperation is the pillar.
At the same time, he expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to coordinate and promote comprehensive cooperation in the agreed fields, focusing on cooperation in naval, training, and cybersecurity, thereby promoting Vietnam-Singapore bilateral defense cooperation relations to a new height.
