On October 1, giving a speech at the first Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the results in the past 5 years of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Dong Thap province.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia stated that the Congress is an important political event, a milestone of historical significance, laying the foundation and orientation for a new development journey, with noble stature, aspiration and mission, not only in the 2025-2030 term but also for many subsequent terms, bringing Dong Thap to firmly join the whole country in a new era, an era of rising up to develop the nation richly, prosperously, civilizedly and happily.
The merger of Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces into Dong Thap province, with an area of nearly 6,000 km2, a population of more than 4.2 million people, has opened up new development space, stretching from the border with Cambodia, where the Tien River originates to the East Sea.
A larger economic space, more concentrated human resources, and higher competitiveness are conditions to maximize strengths in the development of commodity agriculture, processing industry, marine economy, logistics and tourism. Trade between the Taap Muoi Delta, the Go Cong sea area and neighboring areas will create momentum to connect the Mekong Delta with the Southeast key economic region, especially with Ho Chi Minh City.
Revolutionary tradition, historical culture, studious spirit, sincere and deep affection of the people here are the foundation, endogenous resources, motivation and regulation system to aim at building Dong Thap province "Green - Creative - Rich in cultural identity".
On that basis, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee emphasized 6 contents for the Congress to study and discuss.
Firstly, the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee needs to continue to identify the task of building a clean and strong Party and a comprehensive political system as a key task, a guideline to create unity and consensus in the Party and in society. Promoting new thinking, new vision, new knowledge in leadership, direction, promulgation and implementation of policies and guidelines.
Second, strongly promote the role of the people, associated with improving the quality and efficiency of the activities of People's Councils at all levels, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations. One of the most profound lessons that Dong Thap has learned in many terms is to know how to rely on the people, mobilize the people's strength, arouse the people's intelligence and responsibility in all work.
Third, focus on leading and directing the operation of the two-level local government model to ensure smoothness, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency. Strictly implement the documents and instructions of the Central Government. Closely monitor, accurately, fully and promptly identify bottlenecks and arising problems to propose synchronous and feasible solutions, resolving difficulties and inadequacies in personnel work, infrastructure, and technology.
Fourth, Dong Thap needs to maximize the potential and advantages of new development space to focus all resources on investment for development in the direction of green economy, digital economy, and circular economy. Focus on developing modern synchronous transport infrastructure, cross-border, and multi-modal logistics infrastructure. Shift the agricultural structure towards green, ecological, modern, sustainable, multi-value, forming concentrated raw material areas. Developing industry in depth, modern, sustainably, with added value and high competitiveness. Developing professional, modern, sustainable trade, services, and tourism, building and spreading the image and brand of Dong Thap province.
Fifth, the province needs to pay special attention to developing culture and people, ensuring progress and social justice. deepen and strongly spread the cultural values and standards of Dong Thap people: "Loving the country, solidarity, honesty, self-reliance, hard work, cooperation, affection, dynamism, creativity".
Sixth, strengthen national defense and security, firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national borders in the new situation.
