On January 13, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh chaired a meeting of the State Steering Committee for Tourism.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that the tourism industry's goal in 2026 is to welcome 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic visitors.
To make the tourism industry truly break through, develop sustainably and actively contribute to the double-digit GDP growth target in 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister requested a new approach, shifting from a recovery mindset to a growth, competitive and sustainable development mindset.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to focus on concretizing Resolution 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture, restructuring, improving the quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism; reviewing and adjusting the tourism system plan for the period 2021-2030, ensuring compliance with the two-level local government model.

The tourism industry needs to focus on effectively exploiting markets with large international tourist sources, high spending levels, and long-term accommodation; research breakthrough policies to remove institutional barriers, encourage innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation in the tourism sector.
Strongly innovate tourism promotion and advertising; focus advertising resources on high-income market segments and new markets with potential.

In addition, ministries and sectors, according to their assigned functions and tasks, research and advise on policies to contribute to tourism development.
The Ministry of Public Security continues to strengthen technology application solutions to improve the process and procedures for issuing electronic visas; the process of controlling entry and exit procedures to ensure faster and more convenient for international visitors to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes the provision of information and propaganda about Vietnam's visa policy to international friends; researches and proposes advisory opinions on amending relevant legal documents to create conditions for good implementation of Vietnam's tourism promotion and promotion policy abroad.
The Ministry of Construction continues to implement strategic infrastructure investment solutions, including international routes to Vietnam; strengthen attracting international tourists through international transport methods such as air and sea routes; complete and put into use key traffic projects and hubs on schedule.
