The ceremony was attended by leaders of Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, representatives of military units and a large number of local people.
March 17, 1975 was an important milestone in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the army and people of Gia Lai. This is the day the province was completely liberated, contributing significantly to the victory of the Central Highlands Campaign and the Spring General Offensive in 1975, national reunification.
After 50 years of construction and development, Gia Lai has made strong changes in all fields of economy, culture, society, national defense and security.
From a land heavily devastated by war, Gia Lai has today risen to become one of the localities with a good growth rate in the Central Highlands region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary - Mr. Ho Van Nien - emphasized: "After the country's reunification, the political security situation in many newly liberated regions is still unstable, and hostile forces continue to secretly sabotage the revolution.
In that situation, the Party Committee and people of Gia Lai province have launched a production cliff, restored the economy, and promptly suppressed reactionary forces such as FULRO and other anti-ship organizations."
Currently, the province's economic growth rate (GRDP) is at an average of 6.36%/year. Gia Lai is gradually building a new growth axis based on the province's strengths, especially developing specialized areas for high-tech agriculture and sustainable organic agriculture.
The whole province currently has 10,534 enterprises and 475 cooperatives operating in many fields, including key economic sectors such as renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, processing and tourism.
Investment capital has contributed significantly to infrastructure development, technology modernization, and created a strong driving force to promote local socio-economic development.
At the end of the ceremony, the Provincial Military Command organized a fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Provincial Liberation Day, attracting thousands of spectators.
