Continuing the program of the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly, on the morning of May 24, delegates discussed in the hall about the Draft Resolution of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for social housing development.
Before speaking and contributing opinions to the draft, National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran (Binh Duong Delegation) asked the National Assembly for 2 minutes to convey the message of workers to Dien Hong hall.
According to her, millions of low-income workers are working day and night in large industrial parks and export processing zones across the country. They have a very simple mindset of living, working, having a family and a small home to settle down, work with peace of mind, raise children and take care of their parents.
However, in reality, with an income of over and under 10 million VND per month, workers have to worry and struggle with all kinds of difficulties from food, school fees for children, house rental and living expenses... Therefore, having access to a house or social housing is out of reach.

"Wages do not increase but housing prices and consumer prices increase continuously. Housing prices, although called social housing, are still far beyond the means of workers. The criteria, processes, regulations, and procedures for approval are not for people with the same income as us, causing many people to register but have to give up" - Ms. Tran shared the thoughts of workers, and emphasized that even if it is just a normal wish, it will always be a dream.
The female delegate believes that if this resolution is implemented in a practical and feasible manner, it is what low-income workers are looking forward to.
Workers do not need a luxury apartment with full amenities, but only hope to have a place to live in a warm house, rest, and have fun with their children after a hard day's work, so that they can rent, hire to buy, and own according to their ability.

Contributing opinions to the draft, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Society Ta Van Ha assessed that although there are many policies for developing social housing, the demand is increasing, while supply is still limited, so it cannot be met.
On the other hand, Mr. Ha frankly pointed out that despite many efforts, the current price of social housing is still high compared to the income of workers.
"25 million/m2 for people with an income of less than 15 million VND/month is very difficult to buy social housing. Or the rental price if it is at 6 million VND/month is still high compared to those who need social housing, because they are mainly young people, have low salaries, and have unstable jobs" - Vice Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Society analyzed.
Social housing prices exceed the income of workers. This is also a concern of delegate Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran.
The female delegate proposed that the National Assembly supplement practical mechanisms such as subsidies and rewards from the State budget or the National Housing Fund, ensuring the rental and purchase prices of social housing corresponding to the income of workers, while ensuring publicity and transparency when reviewing so that workers have a fair opportunity to access social housing.
"Don't let social housing areas be abandoned and degraded with the pity and desire of so many workers, don't let the dream of having a house for workers forever be just a distant dream" - the female delegate emphasized.
