At Thanh Thuy Border Gate, Kim Bang commune, Nghe An province, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam - chaired the welcoming ceremony for General Khamliang Outhakaysone - Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Laos - to Nghe An to attend activities within the framework of the 3rd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

At Landmark 460, the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam and the Minister of National Defense of Laos jointly performed the friendship tree planting ceremony, showing the special solidarity and long-standing attachment between the armies and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
Next, the two delegations moved to Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station. Here, delegates visited and presented gifts to the unit; listened to reports on the work results of the border guard force; and visited martial arts performances by officers and soldiers.

The activity aims to mobilize forces directly performing the task of managing and protecting borders, maintaining security and order in border gate areas; and at the same time affirm the role of the border guard forces of the two countries in building a border line of peace, friendship, stability and development.

Within the framework of the program, the two delegations attended the preliminary review ceremony of sisterhood activities between residential clusters on both sides of the border at Thuy Phong Village Cultural House. Delegates from the two countries exchanged with people, visited booths displaying Vietnamese - Lao products and donated breeding cows to people in border areas.

Traditional cultural activities such as Lang-vong dance and sap dance are also organized, creating a close atmosphere and deep solidarity between people on both sides of the border.
A highlight of the program is the groundbreaking ceremony of Thanh Ha Kindergarten, a project built with the support of the Ministry of National Defense and donated to the locality.

The project is of practical significance in caring for the lives of people in border areas, supporting learning conditions for local children, and at the same time strengthening solidarity and attachment between the army and people in border areas.

On the same day, official delegations of the two countries visited the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site. Here, the two delegations offered flowers and incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh; planted memorial trees and visited the Vietnam - Laos Friendship House within the relic site.

After activities in the border area and Kim Lien Special National Relic Area, the two delegations held talks. The talks are an opportunity for the two sides to exchange and evaluate the results of cooperation in the past time; continue to affirm the determination to strengthen defense relations, coordinate border management and protection.
