This morning (March 19), General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam visited China to attend the 10th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange (Exchange).
Also participating in the delegation were members of the Party Central Committee: Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Quan Minh Cuong. Also participating in the delegation were Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics; Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, along with leaders of agencies and units in the Army, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh, leaders of departments and agencies.
Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun - Minister of National Defense of China chaired the welcoming ceremony for General Phan Van Giang and the Vietnamese delegation to China to attend activities within the framework of the Exchange.
The welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at Dongxing International Border Gate of China.
According to the program, on March 19, Minister Phan Van Giang and Senior Lieutenant General Dong Quan - Minister of National Defense of China will visit Dongxing Border Guard Company and plant a friendship tree at the Border Guard Congress.
The two Ministers also visited the Memorial Stele of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea; visited the Pham Thanh Cang International Open Medical Pilot Area; laid wreaths to commemorate Vietnamese - Chinese revolutionary martyrs.
Within the framework of the Exchange, the two sides organized a ceremony to depart for joint patrol and training in the Gulf of Tonkin sea area between the navies of the two countries.
The Vietnam Navy Command sent a formation including Ship 015 - Tran Hung Dao and Ship 012 - Ly Thai To of Brigade 162 (Navy Region 4) to participate in this activity.
Previously, on March 18, Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun - Minister of National Defense of China visited Vietnam, attending exchange activities in Quang Ninh province.
