According to the Official Portal of the Ministry of Public Security, on August 8, 2024, Major General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee for Response to Climate Change, Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of the Ministry of Public Security, issued a Commendation Letter to the Lao Cai Provincial Police and the Tan Tien Commune Police, Ba Yen District, Lao Cai Province.
The Commendation Letter states:
At around 1:00 p.m. on August 6, 2024, immediately after receiving a report that a local resident was traveling from Nghia Do Commune to Tan Tien Commune, Ba Yen District, Lao Cai Province, and was suddenly buried under soil and rocks from a hillside, the Tan Tien Commune Police dispatched Lieutenant Mông Văn Anh and Lieutenant Bàn Văn Lư to the scene.
Upon arrival, the people involved in the accident were found to be in a precarious situation, with soil and rocks on the mountain still at risk of landslides, and the victim was in danger of being pushed down a 20-meter deep cliff.
However, with a spirit of cleverness, bravery, and willingness to risk their lives to save the victim, the two police officers from Tan Tien Commune quickly searched for and rescued the victim from the landslide site, and transported them to Bac Ha District General Hospital for emergency treatment.
The clever and brave actions of the two police officers, who were willing to risk their lives to save the victim, were highly appreciated by the local people, and the victim's family visited the Tan Tien Commune Police Station to express their gratitude. This demonstrates the high sense of responsibility and willingness to overcome difficulties to perform their duties when the people are in need, and clearly reflects the spirit of "when the people need it, when the people are difficult, there is the police."
