Hai Phong opens the People's Council session, considering a series of resolutions on socio-economic development

Hai Phong - On the morning of July 27, the 17th City People's Council, term 2026 - 2031, opened the 3rd session.

Speaking at the opening of the session, Chairman of the City People's Council Le Van Hieu stated clearly that the contents submitted to the session, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council has proactively coordinated with the City People's Committee to build and complete the drafts submitted to the session. The contents have been directly and comprehensively directed by the City Party Committee; at the same time, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council assigned the People's Council Boards to strictly verify, ensuring sufficient conditions for submitting to the session for consideration and decision.

The meeting takes place in 2 days (July 27th, 28th) to consider many reports, submissions and draft Resolutions on important policies on social security, relocation, renovation of old apartment buildings, public investment, and socio-economic development policies of the city.

Along with the resolution on socio-economic development, the session will consider and decide on many important policies on resource allocation; improve mechanisms and policies to promote economic development, attract and train human resources and ensure social security.

Regarding supervision activities at the meeting, the City People's Council will consider the report on the results of 6-month work of the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Committee and the People's Council Boards; report on answering opinions and recommendations of voters; results of supervision of the City People's Council in 2025; reports of judicial agencies including the People's Court, the People's Procuracy and the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency; and at the same time consider the summary report of opinions and recommendations of voters sent to the meeting. Through this, levels and sectors have the conditions to fully recognize the shortcomings and limitations, clearly identify the causes and responsibilities to promptly adjust direction and administration methods, and improve the effectiveness of task implementation in the coming time.

Regarding questioning activities, the session will spend time organizing direct questioning at the hall, focusing on areas such as: urban construction and development management, cultural and grassroots sports development, digital government building and administrative reform under the state management scope of the Department of Construction, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Department of Science and Technology.

The Chairman of the City People's Council requested delegates to question clearly, choose key issues that voters and people are interested in. Based on the results of questioning and answering questions, the City People's Council will consider and issue a resolution on questioning according to regulations, as a basis for monitoring and supervising the implementation of commitments after the session.
