The meeting was connected online from the Government headquarters to 49 provinces and centrally-run cities with important national projects and works, key to the transport sector.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in the past 3 terms and in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, all have identified focusing on implementing 3 strategic breakthroughs, including breakthroughs in infrastructure development, especially transport infrastructure.
The Government, ministries, branches and localities have focused on effectively implementing the development of transport infrastructure including roads, railways, airports, and waterways, helping to connect people, connect regions, connect the whole country, connect internationally, reduce travel time, reduce production costs, reduce logistics costs, create jobs, create new development space...
According to the Prime Minister, in the context of slowing world growth, Vietnam's economic growth has been boosted, reaching a high level.
In the coming time, along with continuing to carry out the revolution in organizing the apparatus and implementing the "four strategic ministries", other regular tasks must still be implemented synchronously, promoting growth...
The Prime Minister requested members of the Steering Committee to review tasks, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles, and speeding up investment preparation procedures for projects.
At the same time, it will promote the completion of the target of having 3,000 km of highways nationwide this year, 1,000 km of coastal roads, and implementing railway and road projects connecting with Laos and China...
In particular, focusing on in-depth discussion on promoting the construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong standard gauge railway line, determined to start construction in 2025 to connect Vietnam's railway with China, Central Asia, and Europe; effectively implementing the resolutions of the Central, National Assembly, and Government on developing transport infrastructure in the spirit of "only discussing work, not discussing backtracking".

Require members of the Steering Committee to uphold their sense of compliance, attitude towards work and results, and work efficiency; focus on evaluating, reviewing, and removing difficulties and obstacles, promoting the implementation of works and projects.
In particular, localities must take stronger action, especially in site clearance. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reviews issues on construction materials and conversion of land and forest use purposes. The Ministry of Finance reviews the disbursement issue. The Ministry of Construction reviews and promotes projects to ensure progress, quality, etc.
Since the establishment of the Steering Committee, the Prime Minister, the Head of the Steering Committee has chaired 16 sessions and has repeatedly checked the scene, worked with localities to direct the removal of difficulties and obstacles, and urge the progress of projects.
Ministries, branches and localities have made efforts to implement assigned tasks, so far many difficulties and obstacles have been resolved, the construction progress of projects has changed significantly, especially 19 projects and component projects have been put into operation.
Notably, the completion and operation of 16 expressways on the Steering Committee's project list will increase the total number of expressways nationwide from 1,163 km (before 2021) to 2,268 km;
Put into operation the connecting route and terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport; 52 projects and basic component projects are under construction following the set schedule.
