Starting from July 1, the Law on E-commerce (amended) officially takes effect.
This law stipulates policies on e-commerce development; e-commerce platforms and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in e-commerce activities.
In addition, the law also stipulates e-commerce with foreign elements; responsibilities of organizations providing e-commerce support services; application of technology in management and handling of violations in e-commerce.
Regarding the e-commerce database, this law clearly states that the e-commerce database is built in accordance with the requirements of the national digital architecture framework, ensuring connection and sharing of e-commerce data.
Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and localities shall implement interconnection of national databases, specialized databases with e-commerce databases.
Interconnection must ensure efficiency, safety, and conformity with functions, tasks, and powers according to relevant legal regulations.
The owner of the e-commerce platform, the organization providing e-commerce support services, and relevant agencies and organizations are responsible for providing and updating information to the e-commerce database, ensuring completeness, truthfulness, timeliness, and accuracy.
Regarding handling violations in e-commerce, according to the provisions of the Law, organizations and individuals participating in e-commerce activities who violate the provisions of this Law will be handled according to the nature, severity, and consequences of the violation according to the following forms:
Handling administrative violations according to the provisions of law on handling administrative violations.
Block access, temporarily suspend transaction functions of e-commerce platforms; remove content, temporarily suspend, and terminate violating accounts on e-commerce platforms.
Withdraw from the announced list of e-commerce platforms that have been confirmed for notification and registration; withdraw from the announced list of organizations providing electronic contract authentication services in trade that have been licensed.
Forced to implement measures to remedy the consequences and restore the rights of relevant parties.
Compensation in case of causing damage to e-commerce participants according to the provisions of law.
In case e-commerce activities show signs of crime, they will be considered for criminal handling according to the provisions of law.
