At the meeting on the afternoon of May 6 (local time), happily announcing the results of the very successful talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day, General Secretary and President To Lam said that the two sides agreed to continue to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a strengthened Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the spirit of sharing vision, strategic convergence and practical cooperation.
President Droupadi Murmu highly appreciated the results of the talks between General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi; expressed his pleasure that the two sides elevated relations to "Strengthened Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" during the visit of the General Secretary and President right on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President Droupadi Murmu welcomed the two countries' signing of many cooperation documents in many fields such as science and technology, cybersecurity, health, essential minerals, tourism..., during the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam.
Affirming strong support for the two countries to continue to deepen relations in the new framework, the Indian President said that further strengthening relations between the two countries will bring practical benefits to the people of each country, citing that medical cooperation documents will contribute to helping more high-quality medical products at reasonable prices to be delivered to consumers.
Expressing gratitude to Vietnam for supporting the early completion of the review of the ASEAN-India Goods Trade Agreement (AITIGA), President Droupadi Murmu said that there are currently more than 400 Indian investors operating in Vietnam, hoping Vietnam will continue to pay attention to creating favorable conditions for investors in the spirit of strengthened Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Vietnamese law; and continue to encourage Vietnamese investors to invest in India.
General Secretary and President To Lam hoped that President Droupadi Murmu would pay attention to directing the above areas of cooperation, especially directing relevant agencies of India to increase the frequency of direct flights to India for Vietnam, remove tariff and non-tariff barriers to Vietnamese goods imported into India.
In order to create a solid foundation for the relationship, the two sides affirmed the expansion of cultural, religious, people-to-people and educational cooperation. The Indian President pledged to continue to support Vietnam within the framework of Mekong - Ganges cooperation, Indian Economic and Technical Cooperation (ITEC) scholarship programs and educational scholarships; wishing to have more Indian and Vietnamese tourists come to each country.
After the meeting, Indian President Droupadi Murmu hosted a solemn reception for General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the reception.
