On April 25, the Government Office announced that it had just issued Notice No. 200/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung at a working session with the leaders of Kien Giang province.
The conclusion notice clearly stated that the APEC 2027 Summit Week is a particularly important political and diplomatic event of the country; the Central Government has trusted and chosen Phu Quoc as the host.
This is a great opportunity for Phu Quoc to make a strong breakthrough, develop worthyly, contribute to promoting the overall development of the province and the country, and enhance Vietnam's position in the international arena.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that preparing for the APEC Summit Week 2027 must be associated with the development of Phu Quoc, with a long-term strategic vision, not only to 2030, with a vision to 2050 but also to 100 years later.
Striving to build Phu Quoc city into an international-class destination, in the top 10 largest and most attractive islands in the world, on par with famous landmarks such as Bali, Phuket...
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the selection of projects and works must be divided into 2 major groups:
First, urgent projects, directly serving the APEC 2027 Summit Week, need to be prioritized for investment and immediate implementation.
Second, projects that both indirectly serve APEC and contribute to achieving Phu Quoc's long-term and sustainable development goals. Have a plan to exploit, effectively and long-termly use works and projects after the end of the APEC Summit Week 2027.
The projects need to determine a roadmap and completion time to achieve the goals; determine priority order and balance resources to effectively implement the dual goal of successfully organizing the APEC 2027 Conference, while creating an associated creativity with the sustainable development of Phu Quoc and the country.
Phu Quoc must take the lead in developing and implementing a digital transformation program before 2027 and a green transformation before 2030; towards Phu Quoc Island without vehicles using gasoline and oil (both cars and motorbikes), one of the world's best environmentally friendly islands.
Reviewing the overall core issues that need to be preserved in Phu Quoc such as eco-tourism and international-class tourism.
Ensure the economical and efficient use of resources, especially land, water and forest resources, while having solutions to balance, mobilize and effectively use development resources.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries and functional agencies to support and guide Kien Giang province on mechanisms and policies, closely monitor projects, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to implement projects, invest in construction works on schedule, goals and plans.
Absolutely do not let negativity, loss, waste, or group interests occur during the implementation of projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit Week.
