On March 3, at the Government headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with ministries, branches and Kien Giang province on preparations for the organization of the APEC Conference (Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum) in 2027 in Phu Quoc City.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that the organization of the APEC 2027 Conference is an important event, both in fulfilling the political tasks assigned by the Party and State with the goal of ensuring the success of the conference and contributing to promoting the image and development of Kien Giang and Phu Quoc.
Appreciating the initiative of Kien Giang and relevant agencies, the Prime Minister stated that the time from now until 2027 is only over 2 years, so it is necessary to make very urgent efforts in preparation work.
The Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung to directly direct the resolution of tasks related to facilities, infrastructure, and logistics for the conference.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son directly directs the work related to the conference content and program;
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directly directs the handling of work related to land, forests, etc.
Giving opinions on the implementation of a number of specific tasks and investment policies for a number of projects, the Prime Minister assigned Kien Giang province to carry out site clearance and select locations for projects.
The head of the Government directs that clean water infrastructure projects (such as lakes and water plants) are implemented in the form of public investment. Wastewater and waste treatment plant projects are implemented under the form of public-private partnership (BOT).
Regarding the upgrading and expansion of Phu Quoc and Rach Gia airports, the Prime Minister assigned Kien Giang province as the competent State agency to call for investment in the project in the form of public-private partnership.
The Prime Minister supports the policy of investing in building a conference center in Phu Quoc and can study the construction of more museums, exhibition facilities, etc., in the spirit of needing to calculate very carefully and specifically, ensure efficiency, avoid waste, have a long-term vision, and be able to exploit tourism.
In which, it is implemented in the form of public-private cooperation on the basis of current regulations, if necessary, it is necessary to propose additional mechanisms, policies, strict management in implementation, and prevention of corruption and negativity.

The Prime Minister also noted the implementation of public investment in transport infrastructure projects connecting from airports to the venue, and may assign Kien Giang province as the investor.
The investment in other projects under the dual goal is both to serve the conference and to link with the common development of Kien Giang and Phu Quoc.
The Prime Minister requested agencies to review relevant mechanisms and policies; any mechanism, policy, or work under the authority of which level or agency will be decided by that agency; if it exceeds its authority, it will be reported to the competent authority for consideration and decision.
