On the morning of September 3, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - presided over the welcoming ceremony for Senior Lieutenant General Alvaro Lopez Miera - Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces - on an official visit to Vietnam.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, Minister Phan Van Giang and Minister Alvaro lopez Miera held talks.
General Phan Van Giang welcomed Senior Lieutenant General Alvaro lopez Miera and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of the revolutionary armed forces of Cuba on an official visit and attended the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized that over the past 65 years, the Vietnam - Cuba relationship has become a model symbol of pure, loyal and strong international solidarity. Even though they are halfway around the world, the people of the two countries are always shoulder to shoulder, standing side by side, and supporting each other at all times.
Vietnam will never forget Cuba's great, wholehearted and wholehearted support during the most difficult years of the struggle for national independence and national reunification as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense.

General Phan Van Giang said that Vietnam has recently inaugurated a monument to honor Cuban military experts; one of the first two works in the complex of the symbolic area recognizing the support and assistance of countries in Vietnam's resistance wars at the Vietnam Military History Museum.
This demonstrates the affection of the Party, State, Army and People of Vietnam for the children of Cuba who have sacrificed for the noble international cause, fostering the traditional friendship, loyal solidarity, before and after as one among the two peoples.
In the context of Cuba facing unprecedented difficulties, Vietnam deeply shares and is ready to accompany, support and cooperate with Cuba to the best of its ability.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized that in recent times, in the overall relationship between the two countries, defense cooperation has always been one of the important pillars, contributing to promoting cooperation in other fields.
Senior Lieutenant General Alvaro Lopez Miera respectfully thanked the invitation of the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, and said that he always loves and admires the beautiful country of Vietnam; expressed his impression of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Senior General Alvaro lopez Miera emphasized that the achievements of the Vietnamese people over the past 80 years are a great source of encouragement for the Cuban people in the current period.
Senior General Alvaro lopez Miera affirmed that Cuba is always proud to have Vietnam as a brotherly country; expressed his willingness to promote and strengthen the relationship between the two armies, contributing to the development of the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the world, regional and military situations of each country.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam is consistent with its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations; ready to cooperate with countries and international organizations for peace, cooperation and development; persistent in the "four no's" Defense Policy; the policy of fighting to resolve all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law; respect multilateral institutions, especially led by the United Nations and ASEAN.
Within the framework of this visit to Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Alvaro lopez Miera will have meetings with General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam.
