Within the framework of the state visit to Vietnam and attending activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, at noon on September 2, at the Government Headquarters, First Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee, President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez met with Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy and appreciation for the good results achieved at the talks between First Secretary and President of Cuba and General Secretary To Lam and the meeting with Politburo member and President Luong Cuong; emphasizing that Vietnam always pays close attention to monitoring the situation in Cuba.
The Prime Minister shared the difficulties and challenges Cuba is facing; firmly believed that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the brotherly country of Cuba will continue to firmly defend the achievements of the Revolution, achieving new victories in the cause of national construction and development.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez shared good memories of his visits to Vietnam in 2013 and 2018 and expressed his impression of Vietnam's socio-economic and foreign development achievements in recent times as well as the heroic atmosphere at Vietnam's solemn celebration, saying that these results are always a great source of encouragement for the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.
The Cuban President also highly appreciated the activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba for Cuba's socio-economic development and the substantial strengthening of bilateral economic relations and taking advantage of the mutually complementary strengths between the two countries.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to implement measures to support Cuba in a practical and specific manner, especially agricultural projects following the enterprise model to support food security in Cuba, as well as other important areas of energy and biotechnology.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the fact that the two sides have actively implemented high-level agreements, especially those reached during the visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024; proposed measures to strengthen cooperation in the coming time in the spirit of understanding and sharing, accompanying development, and winning together.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides coordinate in implementing the agreements reached during this visit, promoting the improvement of the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, political consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defense Dialogue, cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Cuba; suggested that Cuba continue to pay attention to creating favorable mechanisms and conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cuba, promoting forms of joint ventures and linkages between enterprises of the two countries, thereby bringing the bilateral cooperation to a new stage, meeting the potential and wishes of both sides.
