The General Secretary is "very impatient" for slow implementation
This morning (May 29), at the Party Central Committee Office, the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Development (Steering Committee) held a regular meeting for the second quarter of 2025 chaired by General Secretary To Lam - Head of the Steering Committee.
Attending the meeting were Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Party Central Secretary: Chief of Party Central Office Le Hoai Trung; Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Department Tran Luu Quang; The Party Central Committee members, members of the Steering Committee.

The meeting aims to discuss reports, bottlenecks, and orientations for removing them to promote the implementation of Resolution 57; listen to reports on strategic technology portfolio.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam said that the meeting is to evaluate the actual implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo, evaluate in terms of, the face has not been, and the direction is conducted in the near future. The meeting is also aimed at preparing the content of the Steering Committee. The second content, the meeting also aims to comment on some guidelines and orientations on the strategic technology portfolio.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Resolution 57 of the Politburo plays a particularly important role, no country becomes a strong country with a weak science and technology foundation.
The General Secretary said that last week, he received two Presidents (the French President and the Hungarian President). These people are all very interested in the development of the country, interested in the implementation of science and technology in our country and very eager to cooperate with us on these issues.

The General Secretary stated that if we continue to be slow in implementation, it will be very difficult to access the world's science and technology. These are extremely urgent issues.
The General Secretary expressed "very impatience" about this. "Our general mood is like that, so we have to review this every week. After the agencies deploy and evaluate, the inspection of the implementation of the Party's resolutions is accompanied by an assessment of the cadres and capacity to implement the Party's Resolutions" - General Secretary To Lam said.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that without science and technology, there will be no development rate of over 8% in 2025, no completion of the 13th National Congress tasks and no basis for double-digit development in the following terms.
With our speed of implementation, I am not satisfied - the General Secretary stated.

General Secretary To Lam stated that Resolution 57 is not a political slogan but a practical action program for Vietnam to take off. Therefore, the implementation of the work must be counted regularly. Limited problems and bottlenecks must be assessed and resolved promptly, without delay.

The General Secretary said that, through the assessment of the standing agency, up to now, ministries and local branches have deployed and completed 103/600 tasks. There have been positive bright spots in the implementation of Resolution 57. However, there are still shortcomings and bottlenecks, and there are 65 overdue tasks that have not been completed.
Stating that the tasks for the last 6 months of the year are very important, the General Secretary requested that at this meeting, it is necessary to frankly address existing problems, limitations, and bottlenecks that need to be focused on removing.
