On the afternoon of February 24, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held a conference to implement the resolutions of the Provincial People's Council on the establishment, merger, reorganization of agencies under the Provincial People's Committee and announcement of decisions on personnel work.
Accordingly, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Kien Giang province was established on the basis that the Provincial Ethnic Committee received additional functions, tasks and organized a state management apparatus for religion from the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment into the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance into the Department of Finance of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction into the Department of Construction of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology into the Department of Science and Technology of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs into the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province.
Merge the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Provincial People's Committee Office into the Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Office.
Mr. Le Huu Toan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - was appointed as Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment; Mr. Vo Minh Trung - Director of the Department of Information and Communications - was appointed as Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Le Viet Bac - Director of the Department of Transport was appointed as Director of the Department of Construction.
At the conference, 2 public service units were also reorganized, which are the Provincial Land Fund Development Center under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, into the Provincial Land Fund Development Center under the People's Committee of Kien Giang province; the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works and the Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board under the Provincial People's Committee.
Up to now, the work of reorganizing the apparatus of the Kien Giang provincial government has been initially completed, ensuring compliance with the orientation and regulations of the Central Government. After implementing the arrangement, Kien Giang has reduced 6 administrative agencies and 2 public service units under the Provincial People's Committee (the total number of internal units of 14 departments and branches is expected to decrease by 26 units, equivalent to 16.77%).
To put the new apparatus into effective operation, immediately after the arrangement, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province - directed the leaders of agencies and units, especially newly established and merged units, to focus on implementing well the new functions and tasks from March 1, 2025. In the spirit of ensuring continuous and smooth operation, without interruption affecting the legitimate rights of organizations and individuals as well as production and business activities of people and businesses in the province.
Continue to improve the internal apparatus in the direction of streamlining and stabilizing (reducing at least 20% of the number of civil servants); at the same time, it is necessary to do a good job of handing over and receiving the apparatus, staffing, personnel, finance, assets, all records, documents and related issues to ensure compliance with legal regulations, strictness, practicality, efficiency and economy.
