According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (January 31, 1950 - January 31, 2025), on January 31, 2025, General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong exchanged congratulatory messages with General Secretary and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh exchanged congratulatory messages with Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pak Thae Song; Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man exchanged congratulatory messages with Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pak In Chol.
The congratulatory messages from Vietnamese leaders to DPRK leaders affirmed that, in the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and DPRK, personally built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, has continuously developed. The Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and wish to promote the cooperative relationship with DPRK to develop more strongly and substantially in many fields, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries and the international commitments of each country, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world; at the same time, they expressed their belief that the two sides will coordinate well in implementing activities to celebrate the "Vietnam - DPRK Friendship Year 2025" with meaningful exchange and cooperation activities.
The message from the North Korean leader to the Vietnamese leader emphasized that the decision of the two countries to make 2025 the “Year of Friendship” is in line with the common orientation and wishes of the people of the two countries; firmly believing that the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and Vietnam will be continuously strengthened and developed, thereby encouraging and strongly promoting the socialist cause of the two countries.
On this occasion, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung exchanged congratulatory messages with alternate member of the Politburo and Head of the International Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son exchanged congratulatory messages with member of the Politburo and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Choe Son Hui.
