Remove Mr. Bui Thanh Son from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs

The National Assembly approved the dismissal of Mr. Bui Thanh Son from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the afternoon of October 24, the National Assembly held a separate meeting on personnel work under the direction of Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

At the meeting, the National Assembly listened to the Prime Minister's proposal to approve the dismissal of a number of ministers for the 2021-2026 term.

The National Assembly listened to a report summarizing the opinions of National Assembly deputies discussed at the delegation on the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss a number of ministers from positions for the 2021-2026 term, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

With 418/418 delegates participating in the vote, the National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss Mr. Bui Thanh Son from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Bui Thanh Son is currently holding the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

During his working period, from November 2009 to January 2016, Mr. Bui Thanh Son held the following positions: Member of the Party Committee of the Ministry, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from July 2015); Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Central Agencies (from October 2015).

From January 2016 to April 2021, Mr. Bui Thanh Son was a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Party Committee of the Ministry (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry from July 2016), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Standing Minister from July 2016); Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Central Agencies for the 2015-2020 term, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2015-2020 term, on August 11, 2020, re-elected as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2020-2025 term. As a delegate to the 14th National Assembly from July 2016.

From April 2021 to August 26, 2024, Mr. Bui Thanh Son will be a member of the Party Central Committee, a member of the Executive Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies for the 2020-2025 term, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Members of the 15th National Assembly from June 2021.

On August 26, 2024, the National Assembly approved the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Bui Thanh Son as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term; and continue to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Recently, the President has decided to temporarily remove Mr. Bui Thanh Son - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs until the 15th National Assembly dismisses him from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
