On September 6, in Hanoi, within the framework of his official visit to Vietnam, Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing and Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang attended the Myanmar - Vietnam Business Forum.
Speaking at the Forum, President Min Aung Hlaing emphasized that cooperation in the economic and trade fields is reflecting the great potential for the future development of the two countries. Currently, Vietnam is one of Myanmar's important trade partners.
In 2025 - 2026, bilateral trade turnover reached more than 510 million USD. Investment is not only an important driving force for the development of each country but also plays a key role in consolidating and strengthening bilateral relations. Vietnam is a major investor in Myanmar with a total registered investment capital of more than 2.53 billion USD with more than 30 projects still in operation.
President Min Aung Hlaing affirmed his commitment to support and create the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese investment projects in Myanmar, while giving high priority to promoting trade and investment between the two countries.

Speaking at the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang expressed his pleasure at the active participation of businesses and associations of the two countries, who are directly bringing the agreements and commitments between the two Governments into life; turning the cooperation potential between the two countries into specific projects, creating products and jobs, contributing to creating practical values for the people, bringing the comprehensive cooperation relationship between the two countries to become increasingly deeper and more effective.
From there, we jointly expand the space of cooperation, synergize resources to serve the self-reliant and self-strengthening development of each country, contributing to concretizing the agreements that the senior leaders of the two countries have agreed upon," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Regarding specific cooperation contents between the two countries, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the two sides need to further strengthen the connection and complementarity between the two economies; create a stable and transparent legal corridor, a favorable environment to improve internal capacity, build an independent and self-reliant economy of each country; strengthen exchange of experiences between the two sides to continue improving the investment and business environment; improve competitiveness and create higher attractiveness in attracting quality foreign investment, serving rapid and sustainable development.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the two sides need to promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, including the Joint Committee on bilateral cooperation, the Trade Subcommittee. Ministries and sectors of the two countries promptly and effectively advise the Government in orienting cooperation as well as handling difficulties and obstacles of businesses.
Vietnamese and Myanmarese investors need to adhere to the cooperation principles, not only to seek business opportunities but also to become reliable and long-term partners, accompanying the development of each country; at the same time, it is necessary to uphold social responsibility, create jobs and stable income for people, contribute to environmental protection and well implement social security policies.
Vietnamese businesses need to improve their sense of responsibility, strengthen and expand investment further in areas that Myanmar needs such as telecommunications, digital transformation, agriculture, education and training.
Vietnam always welcomes and creates maximum favorable conditions for Myanmar businesses to invest and expand operations in Vietnam, especially in high-value-added fields such as processing industry, high technology, logistics, high-tech agriculture and digital economy.
Within the framework of the Forum, the business communities of the two countries signed and exchanged memorandums of understanding on cooperation in many fields.
