Many localities in the province will significantly reduce the number of administrative units at the grassroots level, with a reduction rate of 50% or more. For example, Ke Sach district reduced from 13 to 6 communes; Long Phu district, My Xuyen each district from 11 communes, towns are expected to have only 4 communes after the arrangement. Notably, Cu Lao Dung district has reduced from 8 communes and towns to only 2 communes.
According to the detailed plan, Cu Lao Dung district will merge An Thanh 2, An Thanh 3, An Thanh Nam and Dai An 1 communes to establish Cu Lao Dung commune, the head office will be located in An Thanh 3 commune. Cu Lao Dung town and An Thanh 1, An Thanh Tay and An Thanh Dong communes will be merged into An Thanh commune, headquarter at Cu Lao district People's Committee.
