On the morning of March 6, information from the Department of Home Affairs of Nghe An province said that the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in the province has been completed.
Up to now, steering committees, election committees and specialized sub-committees have been fully established. The whole province has established 6 units to elect National Assembly deputies, 20 units to elect provincial People's Council deputies, 1,039 units to elect commune-level People's Council deputies and established 3,123 polling areas.
Personnel work is carried out in accordance with procedures, ensuring democracy and strictness. The results of the third consultation have finalized the official list with 21 candidates to elect 16 National Assembly deputies, 140 candidates to elect 85 provincial People's Council deputies and 4,807 candidates to elect 2,912 commune-level People's Council deputies. The list of candidates basically ensures the proportion of women, young people, ethnic minorities and non-Party members according to the Central Government's orientation.

Notably, for the first time, Nghe An introduced a female National Assembly delegate candidate who is of the O Du ethnic group.
The province is also allowed by the National Election Council to organize early voting 2 days in advance at 55 polling stations in 31 constituencies in 12 border mountainous communes. At the same time, Nghe An has deployed a voting chatbot system and information management software, helping to quickly summarize reports to serve operational work.
Propaganda work is carried out diversely in newspapers, radio, television, digital platforms and direct propaganda at the grassroots level to raise awareness of voters' rights and obligations. Plans to ensure political security, social order and safety, as well as scenarios for responding to natural disasters and floods during the election period have also been developed.
