On the morning of May 22, in Hanoi, the Palestinian Embassy in Vietnam coordinated with the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the Awarding Ceremony of the State of Merit Star of the State of Palestine to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh to recognize her great contributions to the cause of fighting for peace, justice, human rights and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam sent a bouquet of flowers to congratulate former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.
Attending the ceremony were Member of the 13th Politburo, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Office Nguyen Hoang Anh and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang.
Speaking at the ceremony, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama expressed his honor to be awarded the Order of the Star of Merit by the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on behalf of former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh - an outstanding leader of Vietnam, a symbol of courage and revolutionary diplomatic intelligence of Vietnam, and also a loyal friend of the Palestinian people.
Ambassador Saadi Salama stated clearly that the Star of Merit Order not only expresses recognition for Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh's persistent contributions to the cause of struggle for national independence, peace and justice, but also is a deep gratitude from the State and people of Palestine to a friend who has always given Palestine sincere and consistent support for decades.
The Palestinian Ambassador affirmed that the name of Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh is associated with important historical milestones of Vietnam in the journey of fighting for national independence, national reunification and building peace.
In particular, with her important role in diplomatic activities leading to the signing of the Paris Agreement, she has contributed to laying the foundation for peace, stability and reconciliation, becoming a source of inspiration for many nations fighting for self-determination and justice.
Ambassador Saadi Salama emphasized that for the Palestinian people, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh is a symbol of courage, diplomatic wisdom and steadfastness in the principles of international law. She always speaks out to protect justice, human rights and the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to live in freedom, independence and dignity in their homeland.
Speaking at the ceremony, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh expressed her emotion and sincere thanks to the Palestinian State for awarding the Order of the Star of Merit, a noble award expressing friendship, solidarity and respect for her as well as the Vietnamese people.
The former Vice President affirmed that this award is not only her personal honor but also a recognition of the tradition of solidarity and mutual support between the people of Vietnam and the people of Palestine in the struggle for national independence, peace and justice.
The former Vice President believes that the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Palestine will continue to be preserved, nurtured and developed more and more strongly by generations of the two countries. She also thanked President Mahmoud Abbas, Ambassador Saadi Salama and the Palestinian people for the good feelings they have for her and the Vietnamese people.
