General Secretary To Lam attended and was expected to speak at the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector.

On the morning of August 25, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and received the First Class Labor Medal award.

General Secretary To Lam attended the ceremony and is expected to deliver a speech. Before opening the ceremony, the General Secretary and delegates visited the photo exhibition of 80 years of diplomatic achievements.

The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector was also attended by leaders and representatives of Party and State agencies; former leaders and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the ages; many delegates from departments, ministries, branches, diplomatic delegations, domestic and international friends, and reporters from press agencies.

The event is an opportunity for the entire diplomatic sector to review the glorious tradition, express gratitude for the attention and leadership of the Party, the support of international agencies, organizations, and friends, and at the same time, an opportunity for the press to share the pride in the great contributions of the sector in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland over the past 80 years.

Taking place at a time when the entire Party, people and army are looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the National Day of September 2 - the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an event that highlights the significance and historical role of the sector, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs being one of the first ministries of the revolutionary government directly ministries by President Ho Chi Minh.

Previously, in a congratulatory letter on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that with the spirit of serving the Fatherland, foreign affairs and diplomacy have contributed significantly to creating and maintaining a peaceful, stable, determined environment, persistently protecting independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, building the foundation, potential, enhancing the country's international position and prestige as it is today. Many outstanding Vietnamese diplomats have held important positions at international organizations, and have been recognized and highly appreciated.

"On this occasion, I highly appreciate and warmly commend and congratulate the important achievements and results that generations of cadres working in foreign affairs have achieved. The Party and the State acknowledge the great contributions and silent sacrifices of generations of cadres who have always been loyal to the revolutionary cause and the country's foreign affairs work" - General Secretary To Lam wrote.
