VNA reported that on the morning of November 18, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) jointly organized the Romesh Chandra Award Ceremony for Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Fund (now the Vietnam Peace and Development Council) for her great contributions to the cause of international peace and solidarity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pallab Sengupta, Secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, Chairman of the World Peace Council, Member of the AIPSO Presidium emphasized that Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh is one of the most inspirational figures in the global movement for peace, independence and social justice. Her name has shone brightly in the history of Vietnam's heroic struggle.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was also a key negotiator of the Provisional Revolutionary Government at the Paris Peace Conference. She demonstrated the bravery and dignity of Vietnamese women before the world, speaking not only for the aspirations of the Vietnamese people but also for all those who have fought against socialism and for peace.
"Today, AIPSO is honored to honor Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh for her great contributions to the cause of international peace and solidarity. On behalf of AIPSO and the peace-loving people of India, I would like to send my sincere greetings to Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, an outstanding daughter of Vietnam, a global symbol of peace and dignity. Here, we also celebrate the strong friendship between the people of India and Vietnam, fostered from common struggles and strengthened by mutual respect," Mr. Pallab Sengupta emphasized.
Expressing her sincere and deep gratitude to AIPSO, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh said that this is not only AIPSO's recognition for her personally, but also an appreciation and honor for the joint efforts of those working in people's affairs of the Vietnam People's Peace Committee and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.
"I am honored and moved to receive the Romesh Chandra Peace Award, an award named after the world's outstanding peace soldier, who devoted his life to the international peace movement, fighting war, promoting justice and fostering solidarity and friendship among peoples. I would like to express my sincere thanks to you, comrades who have always accompanied and fought side by side with the Vietnamese people in the cause of peace and friendship between ethnic groups" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh said.
The Romesh Chandra Award was established by AIPSO, named after Romesh Chandra, Honorary President of the World Peace Council, a brilliant symbol of the international peace movement, a loyal soldier who devoted his life to the ideal of peace, fighting against socialism and fostering friendship between peoples.
Mr. Romesh Chandra is also a loyal friend, always standing side by side with the Vietnamese people, actively mobilizing the progressive movement and peace-loving forces around the world to support the struggle for the independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people.
