April 2025 marks an important milestone as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The event of April 30, 1975 not only ended the prolonged war, but also opened a new history for the Vietnamese people.
Looking back on history, on November 18, 1930, the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee issued an instruction on the establishment of the Anti -Alliance Association, the first form of organization of the Vietnam National Unity Front, marking the development of the patriotic movement, of the great unity of the nation in the cause of national liberation. The establishment of the National Front of the National United January 18 every year has become a glorious tradition of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and is the "Great National Solidarity Festival".
On September 10, 1955, the Vietnam Fatherland Front was born with the purpose of "uniting all national and democratic forces, struggling to defeat the American imperialist invasion and minions, building a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and rich Vietnam". Speaking at the Congress establishing the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "History in recent years has shown that the people's solidarity is the championship and the unified national front has many times."
The Vietnam Fatherland Front is a form of organization of the United Nations National Front, succeeding the unity career of the entire population of previous forms of the organization. The Vietnam Fatherland Front includes mass organizations: Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vietnam Farmers Association, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Women's Union, Vietnam Veterans Association ... plays a very important role in consolidating and strengthening the great unity bloc of the entire people, creating unanimous politics and spirit among the people, tightening the intimate relationship between the people and the people's relationship to implement the new people and the people.
Since the country's reunification, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has played an important role in consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, building and defending the Fatherland in the new revolutionary period. The cause of building socialism in our country is a long-term process, going through many stages and existing in many economic sectors. Representing each economic segment is a part of the people, a social force.
Therefore, enhancing the role of the Front in the political system and social life is a requirement of the cause of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Duy Quat - former Deputy Head of the Central Committee for ideology and Culture (now the Central Committee for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization) - emphasized: it is necessary to strengthen the role of supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front must be a positive subject to promote the role of the press and the people in organizing the collection of comments on the guidelines and policies of the Party and the Party committees and local authorities, especially the issues of serious systems, directly related to the legitimate rights and interests of the masses.
