On the evening of April 28, at Van Mieu Park, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
With the theme "50 years - Dong Thap is full of joy", the elaborate staging ceremony from stage, lighting, choreography, art... All are as a matter of pride in recognizing and expressing gratitude to the children of Vietnam in general, especially the efforts of Dong Thap and the whole country to overcome the wounds of war, rise up to build and develop the homeland.
In a proud atmosphere, on behalf of the Party, army and people of Dong Thap, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong reviewed the fiery fighting journey of the army and people of Dong Thap who contributed to the revolutionary waterfall of national liberation.
Mr. Phong was moved and proud: "During 21 years of resistance war against the US to save the country, the army and people of Dong Thap have fought steadfastly through more than 16,000 large and small battles. One after another, victory in action contributes to making April 30, 1975 a historic day with the whole country".
With great sacrifices and contributions to the resistance war, the people and armed forces of many localities in Dong Thap were honored to be awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the Party and State; 68 collectives, 41 individuals were honored as heroes, 1,151 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and more than 27,000 Horses and Medals of all kinds.
Each title, each medal, each feat is imbued with the sweat and blood of many generations of soldiers and people of Dong Thap. Having gone through the war, Dong Thap had 18,410 martyrs; 7,730 war invalids, sick soldiers, 2,158 people arrested and imprisoned for revolutionary ideals...
Promoting that heroic tradition, Dong Thap has gradually removed difficulties, from the ruins of the war to reach many great and comprehensive achievements in many fields. From the local hunger, the first years after the liberation, Dong Thap became a key locality nationwide in agriculture. Many industries of rice, pangasius, fruits and ornamental flowers of Dong Thap plays a leading role in the development of the industry throughout the country. The province's agricultural products have been present in more than 150 countries, including fastidious markets such as the US, Japan, Korea and the EU ...
On this occasion, the provincial leaders also honored 50 outstanding organizations and individuals who have contributed their efforts, intelligence, and enthusiasm to the continuous development of Dong Thap. At the same time, he presented the valuable Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, families with meritorious services to the revolution, war invalids...
The ceremony ended with a program and artistic fireworks and beautiful images of many regions across the country.
