Accordingly, the Politburo issued Decision 2171-QDNS/TW on personnel of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term appointing Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the XV Provincial Federation of Tra Vinh - to hold the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the XV Provincial Federation of Vinh Long.
The decision also appointed 6 comrades to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term, including:
Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ben Tre province, holds the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

On the same day, the new Vinh Long province also announced decisions on the rearrangement of administrative units at the level of 124 communes and wards in the province. These decisions take effect from July 1, 2025.
Attending and giving a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Minh Tri - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court - emphasized the importance of these decisions.
The arrangement and merger of administrative units aims to create new development space, exploit the potential and advantages of the region; not only changes in administrative boundaries but more importantly, create new conditions, motivations and mechanisms for faster and more sustainable development, better serving the people.
Mr. Tri suggested that Vinh Long province, after the merger, urgently start work with a serious, drastic, proactive, creative and synchronous spirit. With the following key contents:
From July 1, all work under the authority of the two levels (province, commune) must be implemented smoothly, without delay, without omission, to better serve people and businesses. It is necessary to focus on shifting from "ad administrative service" to "people's service". In particular, ensuring the effective operation of commune-level public administrative centers, especially health, education, cultural services, etc.
The upcoming workload is very large, it is recommended to closely follow the Central's directives, resolutions and conclusions such as Directive 45-CT/TW, NQ 57, 66, 68, KL 123... to proactively develop a specific action plan, with a clear roadmap and progress, and put the Central's strategic orientation into practice.
"Relating the apparatus and merging administrative units is a correct and long-term policy, however, it can affect the thoughts and working positions of cadres and civil servants. The Central Government understands and hopes that cadres will promote exemplary spirit, for the common good, accept change to jointly carry out tasks", Mr. Tri emphasized this content.
