Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu said that the Politburo has assigned Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi to hold the position of Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.
The assignment decision will be presented to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi this afternoon in Hanoi.
Previously, the Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, born in 1976, from Ca Mau province, is a PhD in Construction Science and Engineering, with a high level of political theory.
During his working career, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi has held many important positions: Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, Deputy Minister of Construction, Deputy Secretary and then Secretary of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee.
From April 2021 to January 2025, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi will hold the position of Minister of Construction.
At the end of January 2025, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi was transferred, assigned and appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
