The keynote speech of the General Secretary and President at the Shangri-La Dialogue contributed to opening up new thinking in crisis management.

On the evening of May 30, on the occasion of a state visit to Singapore, General Secretary and President To Lam met and exchanged views with Senior Minister, Senior Advisor of the People's Action Party of Singapore, former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Also attending the reception were Mr. Tieu Chi Hien, Chairman of Temasek Holdings, cum Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office of Singapore, former Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore.

Senior Minister, Senior Advisor of the People's Action Party of Singapore, former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was pleased to meet again with General Secretary and President To Lam; highly appreciated the content of the General Secretary and President's introductory speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, showing vision and high responsibility for the common issues of the region, contributing to opening up new thinking in crisis management.

General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated Singapore's outstanding development achievements, maintaining its position as the leading financial, technological and innovation center in the region and the world, as well as adapting flexibly to the fluctuations of the international environment; expressed appreciation and acknowledged the extremely important contributions of late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Senior Minister, Senior Advisor, former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to the process of building, developing and deepening friendly and good cooperative relations between the two countries over the decades, contributing to making Vietnam - Singapore relations one of the leading dynamic and effective cooperation models in ASEAN.

Satisfied with the positive, substantive and effective development in all fields of cooperation between the two countries after a year of establishing the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, General Secretary and President To Lam and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong exchanged views on some directions to deepen relations between the two countries in the new development stage.

The General Secretary and President requested Singapore to continue to pay attention to and support Vietnam in the fields of cadre training, sharing experiences on administrative reform, improving the capacity and effective operation of the state apparatus, and perfecting policies and mechanisms in new development fields.

Mr. Lee Hsien Loong highly appreciated the establishment of the Strategic Dialogue mechanism between the People's Action Party of Singapore and the Communist Party of Vietnam, affirming that in his position as Senior Advisor of the People's Action Party of Singapore, he will continue to support promoting cooperative relations between the two Parties and promote the implementation of important cooperation programs between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong agreed that in the context of a complexly changing world situation, the two countries need to strengthen closer coordination, for the development of each country, for peace, stability and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
