After inspecting the actual situation, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long visited, encouraged, and shared with the flood-affected people, hoping that households would strive to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.
He also highly appreciated the proactive spirit and implementation of the "4 on-site" principle by Son La city and Son La province, especially the military, police, and rescue forces who timely assisted in relocating people and assets.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that ministries, sectors, Son La province, and Son La city continue to be vigilant, not be complacent, and direct efforts to respond to and mitigate the consequences of floods, ensuring the safety of people's lives. In particular, he emphasized the need to review and promptly evacuate households in unsafe areas, especially those in flooded or landslide-prone areas, to minimize damage and have plans to respond to unexpected situations.
Ensure essential supplies for households in flooded areas and arrange temporary accommodation for evacuated households. Mobilize military, police, and youth volunteers to assist people in cleaning up the environment after the flood to prevent disease outbreaks. Son La province should promptly complete a report to the Government, the Prime Minister, and relevant central ministries and sectors to study long-term solutions for flood prevention and control.
On this occasion, the Government urgently supported 10 billion VND for Son La province to overcome flood damage; the Deputy Prime Minister and the working delegation presented gifts to 39 households affected by flooding in Phieng Nghe village, Chieng Den commune.
Due to the impact of the remnants of storm No. 2, as of August 4, floods in Son La province had caused 11 deaths, 6 injuries; damaged over 2,672 houses; affected 29 school points; swept away 15 suspension bridges; damaged 82 irrigation works; caused landslides at 130 locations, obstructing traffic...
