Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attends the memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains in Dien Bien

Dien Bien - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra and the working delegation attended the memorial service and burial of 9 martyrs' remains who sacrificed in Laos.

On the morning of May 27, at Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery (Thanh Nua commune, Dien Bien province), the memorial service and burial of 9 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed in Laos were solemnly held.

Attending the memorial service were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, along with the Central working delegation, representatives of leaders of Dien Bien province, Military Region 2 and northern provinces of Laos.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered incense and flowers to express their boundless gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs for international duty.

Among the 9 sets of remains of volunteer soldiers found, collected, and handed over this time by the Military Region 2 Martyrs' Tomb Collection Team, 8 sets of remains of martyrs did not have enough factors to identify their identities, and 1 set of remains had identified their identities.

On behalf of the local government, reading the eulogy, Mr. Nguyen Van Doat - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that the names, careers and great contributions of the heroic martyrs will forever be respected, remembered, and eternally grateful to the Party, State, and people of the two countries.

Immediately after the memorial service, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra and delegates moved the martyrs' remains to their burial location.

Previously, on May 26, the remains of the martyrs were solemnly processed from Udomxay province (Laos) through the Tay Trang International Border Gate (Dien Bien).
