On September 12, Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc led a delegation to inspect the construction situation of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project phase 1, component projects 2, 3, 4 and the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project.
Participating in the working delegation were representatives of ministries, departments, and central agencies. On the side of Can Tho City, there were Mr. Do Thanh Binh - Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee; Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Chairman of the City People's Committee; Mr. Le Cong Ly - Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, along with departments, agencies, and branches of the City.
The Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (PMB) said that the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction investment project phase 1, component projects 2, 3, 4 has a total length of about 132.47km, with a total investment of over 31,288 billion VND, implemented from 2022 - 2027.

The project includes 11 construction packages, including 10 construction packages and 1 construction package for the traffic safety system.
To date, the implemented volume has reached about 65%, and the disbursed value has reached about 84%. Currently, 3 component projects have a demand of about 16.6 million m3 of sand, so far more than 11.3 million m3 have been brought to the construction site, and the remaining supply has been confirmed.
The total demand for stone material is over 4.1 million m3, of which about 0.99 million m3 has been gathered for the project and has been used, and about 2.923 million m3 is still in shortage.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project has a main route length of 110.85km, divided into 2 component projects including the Can Tho - Hau Giang section and the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section, invested by My Thuan Project Management Board; scale of 4 lanes, total investment of 27,523 billion VND. Currently, the main route has stabilized, but there are still 6 intersections along the route that are behind schedule due to lack of stone material.

Through actual inspection, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc requested that for the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway phase 1, component projects 2, 3, 4, assign leaders of Can Tho City to directly direct and focus on thoroughly solving the material problem.
The Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board is requested to work with contractors, ensure full capacity, and focus maximum equipment and manpower to accelerate construction progress.
Regarding the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project, the Standing Deputy Prime Minister assessed that this is a vital traffic route, playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the region. My Thuan Project Management Board needs to focus on accelerating the progress of 6 intersections along the route.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to urgently coordinate with An Giang and Dong Nai provinces to re-evaluate the actual reserves of the stone mines, and complete the procedures for expanding the mines in accordance with regulations and authority to promptly supply for the expressway project.
