Accelerate progress, expecting smooth operation of the entire route
According to the Ministry of Construction, the expressway from Chi Lang (Lang Son) to Ca Mau is expected to be connected by the end of April 2026, contributing to completing the North-South expressway axis in the East.
This information makes people, especially in the Ca Mau area, very hopeful that traffic will soon be smooth on the entire route. However, in reality, the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway is still temporarily suspended for exploitation to overcome some shortcomings.

Mr. Pham Van Dong - who regularly travels between Ca Mau and Can Tho - said that temporary suspension is necessary when some auxiliary items are not completed, especially there is a subsidence phenomenon at bridge-adjacent locations. "The expressway needs to ensure absolute safety, so stopping to fix it is reasonable," Mr. Dong said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung also said that people are very much looking forward to traffic continuously from Ca Mau to Lang Son, but expect the road to ensure the highest quality and safety when put into operation.
Completing items, ensuring exploitation safety
My Thuan Project Management Board said that it has proposed to temporarily suspend the operation of the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section from March 16 to the end of April 15, 2026 to handle existing problems on the route.
Through review, some items are still under construction such as drainage ditches, reinforcement of taluy slopes, cement concrete curbs... Both construction and exploitation pose a potential risk of traffic unsafety, affecting people and vehicles.
Traffic diversion conditions also limit the construction progress, mainly deployed during the day to ensure safety and extend completion time.

After completing the items and acceptance according to regulations, the My Thuan Project Management Board will report to the Ministry of Construction to consider putting the route back into operation.
2 rest stops are arranged on the route. Specifically, the first station is at Km 2006+00 in the Can Tho - Hau Giang section, with an area of about 11.5 ha, located in Vinh Tuong commune, Can Tho city. The second station is at Km 2061+200 in the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section, with an area of about 6.3 ha, located in Vinh Phong commune.
Rest stops are planned to meet the needs of stopping, resting, refueling and services for traffic participants; specific locations are guided through the system of signs, QR codes on the route and official information channels of the project.
For Ca Mau province, local leaders have worked with the investor many times to remove difficulties and promote progress. Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi emphasized that the expressway to the locality will open up great opportunities for socio-economic development, so the province always creates the most favorable conditions for construction units.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project has a total length of 110.85 km, including two component sections: Can Tho - Hau Giang, 37.07 km long and Hau Giang - Ca Mau, 73.2 km long, with a scale of 4 lanes.
