Deputy Prime Minister requests La Hien 2 Hydropower Plant to innovate technology or stop operation

Dak Lak - After the incident at La Hien 2 Hydropower Plant caused flooding, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the unit to innovate technology or stop operations.

On the morning of November 7, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the working delegation inspected the La Hien 2 Hydropower Plant, in Phu Mo commune, Dak Lak province. This hydropower plant has caused incidents, causing flooding for people.

Previously, the leaders of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee had reported preliminarily on the damage situation in the locality, including the La Hien 2 Hydropower Plant causing flooding for people in the downstream area.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this hydropower plant has a capacity of 18MW, the licensing and management are under the authority of the provincial People's Committee.

After listening to the report, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to immediately request La Hien 2 Hydropower Plant to overcome and innovate technology. If this plant cannot fix it, it will stop operating.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee consider, take good care of, and ensure the lives of the people.

According to quick reports from localities, storms and floods have killed 2 people (in Xuan Lanh commune) and injured 2 people.

The whole province had 12 completely collapsed houses and more than 326 houses with unroofed roofs; 147 houses were flooded. Regarding agricultural production, Ea Kly commune recorded 4 hectares of flooded crops. Seafood suffered heavy damage, about 54,000 cages and rafts were damaged, estimated at 21 billion VND.
