Circular No. 74/2026/TT-BQP just issued by the Ministry of National Defense has guided the implementation of the basic salary level for subjects receiving salaries or military rank allowances, and living expenses from the state budget in agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the circular, the base salary applied from July 1 is 2.53 million VND per month, replacing the current level of 2.34 million VND.
According to the new base salary level applied from July 1, 2026, leadership position allowances for many titles in the Vietnam People's Army are also adjusted to increase correspondingly.
Accordingly, the Minister is entitled to a position allowance of 3.795 million VND/month (coefficient 1.50). The Chief of the General Staff and the Director of the General Department of Politics receive 3.542 million VND/month (coefficient 1.40).
The group of titles Head of the General Department; Commander of Military Region, Command, Border Guard, Army Corps are entitled to an allowance of 3.162 million VND/month (coefficient 1.25). Commander of the Corps receives 2.783 million VND/month, while Deputy Commander of the Corps receives 2.53 million VND/month.
Division Commanders are entitled to a position allowance of 2.277 million VND/month; Brigade Commanders 2.024 million VND/month; Regiment Commanders 1.771 million VND/month and Deputy Regiment Commanders 1.518 million VND/month.
Battalion commanders receive an allowance of 1.265 million VND/month, Deputy Battalion Commanders receive 1.012 million VND/month.
Meanwhile, the Company Commander receives a position allowance of 759,000 VND/month; Deputy Company Commander 632,500 VND/month and Platoon Leader 506,000 VND/month.
The Ministry of National Defense noted that the level of leadership position allowance for other leadership positions and titles of officers is determined according to the principle of being equivalent to the basic positions of officers according to the provisions of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army amended and supplemented in 2024 and current regulations of the Government and the Ministry of National Defense.
