On August 30, according to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense - had a working session with the General Department of Defense Industry and a number of agencies and units on the task of researching the design and manufacture of self-propelled fireworks.
The report of the General Department of Defense Industry at the meeting said that up to now, the General Department has basically completed the manufacture and assembly of self-propelled firecrackers. In particular, there are improvements and manufacturing of some additional departments in accordance with the characteristics, training tasks and combat readiness of the units.
Through initial inspection and testing, the basic items met the standards of features, techniques and tactics.
The General Department of Defense Industry also conducted an assessment and acceptance of topics, tasks, production items and was ready to organize a trial fire.
At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam requested the General Department of Defense Industry to continue to closely coordinate with relevant units, speed up the research, manufacturing and production of the O series; and at the same time organize the testing of the units before mass production.
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam also requested that after completing the task of producing the "O" series, the General Department of Defense Industry report to the Ministry of National Defense to organize an evaluation council and acceptance according to regulations.
Previously, on the afternoon of August 20, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense - chaired the ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Artillery - missile Command.
The establishment of the Artillery - missile Command is considered a very important event, demonstrating new thinking and new vision of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission on adjusting the organization of the Army's forces, increasingly better meeting the requirements of the cause of building and strengthening national defense and defending the Fatherland in the current period.
The Artillery - missile Command is organized and built in a streamlined, compact, strong, and modern direction; the scale and organization of forces, functions, and tasks are supplemented more heavily; equipped with many types of weapons, means, and modernity, with a broader strategic arrangement.
