On April 1, the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee held a meeting on internal affairs, anti-corruption, anti-waste, anti-negativity and judicial reform in the first quarter of 2025.
The report at the conference showed that the crime situation in the province tends to decrease sharply, the authorities have fought fiercely against social evils.
In the first quarter of 2025, the whole province recorded 176 criminal offenses, down 44.1% over the same period last year. The authorities have investigated and discovered 157 cases, reaching a rate of 89.2%. Of which, 128 cases with 303 defendants have been prosecuted, especially 87 cases with 172 defendants related to drug crimes.
The Investigation Agency of the Provincial Police is handling and investigating 25 cases with 45 defendants for corruption and position-related crimes, including 5 cases, with 8 defendants newly prosecuted. The People's Courts at both levels have resolved and tried 17 cases with 33 defendants, the rest are continuing to handle according to regulations.
The whole province handled 2,517 petitions of all kinds, including 143 complaints, 30 denunciations and 2,150 petitions and reflections. Compared to the same period last year, the number of large-scale lawsuit groups decreased by 28.6%, demonstrating the effectiveness of receiving people and handling complaints and denunciations.
Quang Nam Internal Affairs Agency forecasts that the situation in the coming time will continue to be complicated and committed to continuing to tighten discipline, improve the effectiveness of internal affairs work, fight against corruption and ensure security and order in the province.
