King of Bhutan: Expect Vietnam and Bhutan dragons to fly high, strong and eternal

King Bhutan hopes that the dragon - a symbol of both Bhutan and Vietnam - will take off together in a high, strong, confident and enduring manner.

On the evening of August 19, at the International Convention Center (Hanoi), Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife presided over a solemn reception for King Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen along with the Bhutan high-ranking delegation.

Warmly welcoming King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen and the high-ranking Bhutanese delegation on a state visit to Vietnam on the occasion of Vietnam celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the President emphasized that the success of this visit will open a new chapter in the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Bhutan.

Appreciating the proud achievements that Bhutan has made in the country's development, the President stated that Bhutan is one of the few countries with negative carbon levels, keeping forests covering more than 70% of its territory, is an inspiring story about a sustainable and harmonious development model, where people uphold Humility, community ethics and harmony between people and nature.

The President affirmed that the exchanges between the two leaders took place in a sincere, profound and positive atmosphere on directions and measures to promote effective and substantive cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, connections and issues of mutual concern.

The President believes that after this historic visit of the King of Bhutan and his Queen, it will create new momentum for the two countries to cooperate substantially, effectively, and mutually beneficially, for the happiness of the people and the prosperity of the two peoples, contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.

In his opening speech, King Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck expressed his appreciation for the warm and respectful reception that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have given to the delegation.

King of Bhutan said that Vietnam is especially admired by international friends for its resilience, solidarity and courage; for its dedication to heritage conservation, and iron belief in the future; affirmed that after 80 years, the sacrifices of previous generations of Vietnamese people will not only be remembered in memory, but also honored in the extraordinary achievements that the Vietnamese people have built.

The Bhutanese leader also expressed his admiration and respect for President Ho Chi Minh when he visited Uncle Ho at a time of sacred significance to the Vietnamese people when he was celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country; affirmed his vision of not only continuing to inspire the Vietnamese people, but also for humanities around the world.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck stated that although Bhutan is a small and remote country, it always shares the same spirit with Vietnamese friends, and believes that historical heritage is the guiding principle to build the future for the people of each country.

Emphasizing that Bhutan is also known as the "land of thunder dragons", while Vietnam is often known as the "land of flying dragons - Thang Long", King of Bhutan hopes that the dragons of the two countries will take off together - strong, full of confidence, and lasting.
