Binh Duong province has approved a project to reorganize 91 administrative units into 36 communes and wards. Notably, there are 5 wards in Ben Cat city that are after the reorganization.
Ben Cat is the 5th city of Binh Duong province, newly established in March 2024. When it was first established, Ben Cat city had a natural area of 234.35 km2 and a population of 364,578 people. The city has 8 commune-level administrative units, including 7 wards: An Dien, An Tay, Chanh Phu Hoa, Hoa Loi, My Phuoc, Tan Dinh, Thoi Hoa and Phu An commune.
When arranging, 5 wards will be established in Ben Cat city. In which, the Tay Nam ward was established on the basis of merging the entire An Tay ward and part of An Lap commune (with Kien An and Ho Can hamlets), part of Thanh Tuyen commune (with Cho, Lam Vo, Go Moi, Xom Lam, Xom Bung, Xom Ben, Suoi Cat, Le Danh Cat, Bung Cong, Rach Kien hamlets). The headquarters of Tay Nam ward is located in An Tay ward. The ward has a natural area of 119.796 km2 and a population of 56,784 people.
Establish Long Nguyen ward on the basis of merging the entire Long Nguyen commune, An Dien ward and quarter 1 of My Phuoc ward. Headquarters in An Dien ward. The ward has a natural area of 108.003 km2 and a population of 53,387 people.
Establish Ben Cat ward on the basis of merging the entire Tan Hung commune, Lai Hung commune and neighborhoods 2, 3, 4, 5 in My Phuoc ward. The headquarters is located at Ben Cat City People's Committee (a key ward of Ben Cat area). The ward has a natural area of 100.893 km2, and a population of 97,928 people.
Establish Chanh Phu Hoa ward on the basis of merging the entire Hung Hoa commune and Chanh Phu Hoa ward. The ward has a natural area of 69.543 km2, population of 53,916 people.
Thoi Hoa ward remains in its current state. This is the only ward in Binh Duong that has been kept intact. The ward has a natural area of 37.930 km2, population of 79,601 people. This is one of the dynamically developing areas of Ben Cat city.
Thus, after the arrangement, there will be 3 administrative units reduced in Ben Cat. After merging some administrative units of Dau Tieng district and Bau Bang district, the new wards in Ben Cat have a larger area. The total area of the above 5 wards is 436.2 km2 and the total population is 341,616 people.
Industrial development area
Currently, Ben Cat city has 8 industrial parks, attracting hundreds of enterprises to build factories, invest in business, and create jobs for about 180,000 workers. Ben Cat currently has 6,279 domestic investment projects with a total capital of over 69,600 billion VND and 860 FDI projects, with a total investment capital of over 10.2 billion USD.
In 2024, the value of industrial production will reach VND 258,108 billion; trade and services will reach over 121,205 billion VND. Total budget revenue reached over 5,833 billion VND.
According to the orientation, by 2040, Ben Cat urban area will be developed as an industrial - service urban area - traffic unit. Currently, the city has 3 major routes passing through: My Phuoc Tan Van, National Highway 13 and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4.
