This morning (October 15), in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defence held a press conference to introduce the 2nd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange.
Colonel Tong Van Thanh - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department/Directorate of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, chaired the meeting.
Colonel Tong Van Thanh said that the 2nd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange will take place from October 22-23, 2024 in Son La province/Vietnam and Hua Phan province/Laos.
The Vietnam - Laos border defense friendship exchange has many main activities such as: On the afternoon of October 22, the welcoming and farewell ceremony of the Lao Ministry of National Defense delegation took place at Long Sap border gate; Planting friendship trees; Visiting and practicing joint exercises to coordinate in catching cross-border criminals; Visiting the Long Sap border guard station; Attending the inauguration ceremony of the Long Sap Primary - Secondary School classroom complex; Meeting between the two delegations and signing cooperation documents; Exchange of political work and young officers of the two countries' armies in the form of dramatization.
In Laos, on the morning of October 23, 2024, there were main activities such as: Welcoming and farewell ceremony of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam delegation at Pa Hang/Laos border gate; Greeting the landmark, painting landmark 255 (2 sides of the landmark on Laos and Vietnam sides); Witnessing the joint patrol (commanded by Laos); Planting friendship trees (on Laos side); Visiting and presenting gifts to the Head of Pa Hang Primary - Secondary School; Attending the groundbreaking ceremony of Border Guard Company 214 barracks.
Along with the official exchange activities, there were also sideline activities taking place before the Exchange such as: General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defence worked with the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee.
The Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Border Guard Department organized many activities such as: Organizing the planting of "Friendship Flower Garden" and "Vietnam - Laos Young Officers Friendship Trees" in the area of Landmark 255; Giving 20 scholarships worth 40 million VND to 20 students, of which 10 are Vietnamese students, 10 are Lao students; Giving 60 breeding cows worth 18,000,000 VND/cow to 60 households (30 Vietnamese households, 30 Lao households); Organizing cross-border cross-country runs;
The military medical agencies of Vietnam and Laos organized medical examinations, treatment, and free medicine for 2,000 people at 3 locations: Sop Bau District Center; Primary and Secondary School in Pa Hang Border Gate area, Pa Hang Commune, Hua Phan Province, Laos and the Vietnam - Laos Border Military Medical Station in Long Sap Commune, Moc Chau District, Son La Province, Vietnam.
Also within the framework of pre-exchange activities, there will be artistic performances to serve people in the border areas of the two countries.
