The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued Resolution No. 1237/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Ben Tre province for the 2023-2025 period.
Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly resolved to arrange commune-level administrative units in Ben Tre city as follows:
Merge the entire natural area of 0.39 km2, population of 5,768 people of Ward 4 and the entire natural area of 0.49 km2, population of 5,935 people of Ward 5 into An Hoi Ward.
After the merger, An Hoi ward has a natural area of 1.79 km2 and a population of 25,516 people.
After the arrangement, Ben Tre city has 12 commune-level administrative units, including 6 wards and 6 communes.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Chau Thanh district as follows:
Merge the entire natural area of 5.66 km2, population of 6,542 people of Phu An Hoa commune and the entire natural area of 3.98 km2, population of 5,314 people of An Hoa commune into An Phuoc commune.
After the merger, An Phuoc commune has a natural area of 16.09 km2 and a population of 17,115 people.
Merge the entire natural area of 5.81 km2, population of 6,202 people of Son Hoa commune and the entire natural area of 7.28 km2, population of 7,069 people of An Hiep commune into Tuong Da commune.
After the merger, Tuong Da commune has a natural area of 22.60 km2 and a population of 20,403 people.
Merge the entire natural area of 11.93 km2 and population of 11,486 people of An Khanh commune into Chau Thanh town. After merging, Chau Thanh town has a natural area of 15.04 km2 and a population of 15,604 people.
After the arrangement, Chau Thanh district has 16 commune-level administrative units, including 14 communes and 2 towns.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Binh Dai district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 10.30 km2 and population of 5,332 people of Phu Vang commune into Loc Thuan commune.
After the merger, Loc Thuan commune has a natural area of 22.05 km2 and a population of 14,024 people.
After the arrangement, Binh Dai district has 19 commune-level administrative units, including 18 communes and 1 town.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Ba Tri district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 13.10 km2 and population of 3,536 people of Tan My commune into My Hoa commune. After merging, My Hoa commune has a natural area of 29.32 km2 and a population of 12,470 people.
After the arrangement, Ba Tri district has 22 commune-level administrative units, including 20 communes and 2 towns.
After rearranging commune-level administrative units, Ben Tre province has 9 district-level administrative units, including 8 districts and 1 city; 148 commune-level administrative units, including 132 communes, 6 wards and 10 towns.
This Resolution comes into force from December 1, 2024.
The Government, People's Council, People's Committee of Ben Tre province and relevant agencies and organizations are responsible for arranging and perfecting the apparatus of local agencies and organizations; stabilizing the lives of local people, ensuring the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense and security in the area.
The Government directs relevant ministries and Ben Tre provincial authorities to study and develop appropriate reorganization plans for administrative units that are subject to reorganization but have not yet been reorganized in the 2023-2025 period, and determine a roadmap for completing necessary standards and conditions to ensure reorganization in the following years in accordance with regulations.
