The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has just issued Resolution No. 1203/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long province for the 2023-2025 period.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Binh Tan district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 17.86 km2 and population of 4,573 people of Tan Hung commune into Tan An Thanh commune. After merging, Tan An Thanh commune has a natural area of 30.41 km2 and a population of 16,879 people.
After the arrangement, Binh Tan district has 9 commune-level administrative units, including 8 communes and 1 town.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long city as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 1.52 km2 and population of 13,319 people of Ward 2 into Ward 1. After merging, Ward 1 has a natural area of 2.44 km2 and a population of 27,945 people.
After the arrangement, Vinh Long city has 10 wards.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Long Ho district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 15.99 km2 and population of 13,807 people of Phu Duc commune into Long Ho town. After merging, Long Ho town has a natural area of 18.6 km2 and a population of 23,483 people.
After the arrangement, Long Ho district has 14 commune-level administrative units, including 13 communes and 1 town.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Tra On district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 22.28 km2 and population of 14,547 people of Thien My commune into Tra On town. After merging, Tra On town has a natural area of 24.46 km2 and a population of 26,968 people.
After the arrangement, Tra On district has 13 commune-level administrative units, including 12 communes and 1 town.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Tam Binh district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 12.02 km2 and population of 13,872 people of Tuong Loc commune into Tam Binh town. After merging, Tam Binh town has a natural area of 13.7 km2 and a population of 20,501 people.
After the arrangement, Tam Binh district has 16 commune-level administrative units, including 15 communes and 1 town.
After rearranging commune-level administrative units, Vinh Long province has 8 district-level administrative units, including 6 districts, 1 town and 1 city; 102 commune-level administrative units, including 83 communes, 13 wards and 6 towns.
This Resolution comes into force from November 1, 2024.
