On November 16, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the University of Forestry.
At the ceremony, the First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the requirement of building a green, circular, modern, efficient, and highly competitive economy and the negative impacts of climate change, natural disasters, storms, floods, resource and environmental degradation put on the shoulders of the Forestry University a noble mission and determination to innovate.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Forestry University will continuously improve the quality of training and scientific research, closely linked to practice. This is the central and core task of the University.
Graduates must be quality forestry professionals, with both solid knowledge and foundation, practical skills, diverse soft skills and the ability to work in a practical environment.
The school needs to equip students with the necessary knowledge to be ready to enter the challenging labor market and be able to meet the strict requirements of employers. The quality of the school's training must be tested by the attractiveness of its graduates. At the same time, the school must be the leading training, scientific research and technology transfer facility in Vietnam and on par with the region in the forestry sector.
Prioritize investment in developing key and cutting-edge scientific research directions to meet the requirements of forest protection and development, wood processing industry and non-timber forest products, in accordance with regional and international quality standards.
Building a team of lecturers and scientific researchers to meet practical requirements; innovating curriculum, teaching and learning methods, improving training quality, keeping up with the requirements of practical life and the development of science and technology.
The school's teaching staff must be passionate people who understand and love the forest more than anyone else, constantly innovate and always try their best to guide and impart that great knowledge and love to students.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the University needs to pay special attention to innovating university governance, promoting digital transformation, enhancing autonomy, social responsibility and creativity of units.
Strengthen public-private cooperation in training, scientific research and technology transfer; training must be linked to the practical needs of state management and production in the forestry sector.
Promote international cooperation, regularly update and grasp research and training trends in the forestry sector; make the most of scientific, technological and financial support from development partners and international organizations in research and teaching.
International cooperation is an important factor to help the University of Forestry expand its scale, improve the quality of training and scientific research, access advanced scientific achievements of mankind, to keep up with, go along with and surpass university training institutions in the region and internationally.
Over the past 60 years, the University of Forestry has continuously developed and matured. When it was first established, the University only had 4 training majors for 475 students. Up to now, the University has a scale of more than 12,000 students, 184 teachers who are doctors, associate professors, professors and have become the leading training and scientific research institution in the field of forestry.
