On the morning of November 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that with the special attention of the Party and State, the participation of ministries, branches, localities, and the active participation of organizations, communities, businesses and people, in the past time, we have helped about 340,000 households with meritorious services to the revolution and over 800,000 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties to have stable and safe accommodation, and to escape poverty sustainably.
Up to now, the whole country still has about 315,000 households with housing difficulties (about 106,000 households of meritorious people, 46,000 households under the national target program and 153,000 other poor and near-poor households) needing support to improve their houses to ensure safety and stability for "settling down and making a living".
At the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his determination to strive to achieve the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by 2025, 5 years earlier than the original target.
The Prime Minister asked delegates to exchange, discuss, and clearly define goals, viewpoints, and directions to resolutely and effectively implement the program, ensuring its completion in 2025.
Analyze and specifically identify difficulties and problems such as: Determining subjects, residential land, mobilizing and using resources, implementation methods... and remedial measures.
According to the Prime Minister, this is a common task of the entire political system, it is necessary to promote the people's strength with a comprehensive, all-people approach.
Therefore, it is necessary to establish a Steering Committee from the Central to the communal level, close to the people, close to the grassroots, the Central does not replace the province, the province does not replace the district, the district does not replace the commune.
Promoting the responsibility of ministries, branches, localities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, all levels, businesses, organizations, individuals, and supported households, all must be proactive, positive, not expect or rely on others.
The Prime Minister stated that the Party and State's policy is to focus on ensuring social security, not sacrificing social progress and equity, and the environment to pursue mere economic growth.
Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is a noble humanitarian act, the responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels, requiring responsibility and dedication from cadres and Party members.
