In 2024, the GRDP growth rate of the North Central and Central Coast regions is expected to reach about 7.6%, higher than the national average, approximately reaching the target for the 2021-2030 period (average growth of 7-7.5%/year).
The economic scale is estimated at over 1,765 trillion VND, the estimated state budget revenue of 14 localities in the region is 237,411 billion VND, an increase of 16.7% compared to the assigned estimate.
According to the Coordination Council's assessment, growth in the North Central and Central Coast regions in 2024 is expected to be nearly 1% higher than in 2023.
Besides the achieved results, some indicators are still lower than the set targets such as total social investment capital, industrial - construction growth, marine economic development has not been breakthrough, localities have not formed industry clusters and large coastal economic zones associated with urban areas, marine tourism centers...
At the 5th conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked ministries, branches, provinces and cities in the region to evaluate the results of socio-economic development in 2024; propose appropriate and feasible solutions to complete the socio-economic development goals and tasks in 2025, especially solutions to effectively implement the task of double-digit GDP growth in the coming years.
Difficulties and challenges in removing bottlenecks in institutions, mechanisms, policies, resources... and issues arising in coordination and collaboration within regions, between regions and between ministries, sectors and localities.
Listening to exchanges and discussions from 9 ministries, sectors and localities in the North Central and Central Coast regions, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Regional Coordination Council to continue coordinating to review and perfect institutions, mechanisms, policies, and regional linkage organizations and promote regional economic development.
Focus on building and effectively implementing the planning implementation plan. In particular, focus resources on implementing 6 key tasks and breakthroughs in the regional planning period. Prioritize strengthening intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity, developing economic corridors along the North-South and East-West axes to effectively connect seaports, economic zones, airports, international border gates, coastal cities, etc.
Promote disbursement of public investment capital from the beginning of the year, focusing on resolving problems related to preferential policies, legal procedures, site clearance, and scarcity of raw materials.
Strengthen coordination of activities linking sustainable development of marine economic sectors, restructuring service and tourism sectors, developing logistics centers associated with seaports, airports and border gates.
